I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Daysha & Elvin for a few years now. In fact, the last time I photographed them, little did I know, they were soon to be expecting a most precious baby girl! I love my clients and when they can be flexible when Mother Nature is not, I love them even more. Initially this session was planned as an evening session but after rescheduling twice, Daysha & Elvin where happy to opt for magical morning session.
Hands down the beach is my most favorite place to take pictures for my clients. One reasons why is that it offers beautiful light and even in the morning, right after sunrise, you can capture some of the most dreamy images possible. When it comes to beach sessions, long dresses are perfect, light colors are also very flattering against the sand and waves. Just think of a those cotton candy skies you see during sunset, that is the perfect color palette for any portrait session on the beach . Alternatively, consider the environment alone. Sand, beach grass, sea oats, white clouds and the many shades of the waves. Another reason the beach is a perfect portrait location.
Daysha is incredibly sweet and she is also very quick to ask for help, which I also love about my clients. A few days before their session she called me in a slight panic. She was very concerned about making the right selection of outfits for her family and wanted to tell me what she had lined up. She described each outfit for her, Elvin, & Little Miss Eloise. They were perfect!
These two are brand new parents! Getting to spend time with them and watching them interact with Miss E was absolutely the highlight of my morning. Even though our own daughter is now 13 I can still remember her first year like it was yesterday. I regret not having portraits taken when she was so young, it’s certainly time we’ll never get back. At the same time, I’m honored to be the one documenting this time for this blossoming family.
The timing of this session couldn’t be more perfect. Just in time for Mother’s Day, Daysha will have these memories forever with sweet baby girl Eloise. I’m looking forward to many more family sessions this summer, when I’m not shooting a wedding 🙂 of course!
