In 2016 I was working in the corporate world and found that I was less than fulfilled by the thing I was doing. So while sitting in my tiny gray cubicle I considered what things I was most passionate about. It didn’t take me very long to land on photography. I loved taking pictures and documenting my little family of 3. I found so much joy in how a photo could take you back to a special time or help you to recall the details of an important moment. Fast forward to 2018. I had spent the last two years learning everything I could about starting a photography business and teaching myself how to use my DSLR camera that was a Christmas gift from my sweet husband. I had photographed several weddings and portrait sessions and was ready to take the plunge as a full time photographer. That’s when the fun truly began. I now had the opportunity to grow my part time passion project into a full time business and that’s exactly what I’ve done! I’m incredibly proud to say that I am lucky enough to do something that I absolutely love and provide others with a photography experience that will touch their family for generations to come.
I began running in 2007 because I was going to be a bridesmaid in my sisters wedding and wanted to fit into my dress. I had never been a runner in the past but almost immediately fell in love with the challenge, mental strength and overall feelings of accomplishment it brought me. I've run many races and two half marathons. Hoping to one day tackle a full marathon!
I was born in Virginia Beach and have lived here almost my entire life, I'll have to tell you about that 11 months in the desert sometime. I grew up splashing in the waves at the beach, having dinners at the Duck Inn, walking the boardwalk during the Neptune Festival Art Show and watching fireworks in Cape Story on the Fourth of July.
David and I have been married for 20 years. We met while working at a Virginia Beach Rec Center. I was a lifeguard and he worked in the weight room. He asked me to go to his brothers wedding as our first date and the rest is history. We had our daughter Cameron in 2005 and she makes us incredibly proud every day. She is the strongest, brightest, funniest teenager and her smile brings me all the joy.
I do enjoy a vanilla sweet cream cold brew from Starbucks but if I'm given the choice I'm chosing coffee at home. David usually makes it each morning in our house and the smell wafts up the stairs to coax me from under the covers. It's nothing fancy, Foldgers with a splash of Coconut Cream, Pumpkin Spice, or Peppermint Mocha creamer....all depending on the season. It's a warm hug that greats me every morning and I look forward to it.
My wardrobe style walks an adventurous line between bright, bold splashes of color or print and calm, soothing neutrals. I have a strong appreciation for both palettes. I get joy from the punchy vibrant colors that exist in art and I feel that way when I wear a bold colored outfit. I also love the minimalism that neutral colors provide and direct attention to the wearers face rather than the outfit.
Capturing you as your most authentic self requires you to be at ease in front of the camera. This is my mission with all of my clients. To create an environment of comfort & ease that you can lean into, together. I gently guide my clients through their experience with me to provide them with the confidence they desire. I strive to capture images that reflect true to life colors with a classic, ageless style while blending emotions, environment and movement.
