I will start by saying, as usual, I arrived at my location early for this engagement session with Alix & Gene. I do this for many reasons but I was especially glad that I did so on this occasion. As I was pulling up to the parking area that is immediately across from this open area at Stumpy Lake Park, my heart sank because the tall grass that is usually there had just been mowed! Thankfully since I had arrived early I could adjust in my mind my plans for this session!
Another twist for this session is that I was shooting on the weekend. I don’t typically have sessions on the weekend for a few reasons. First, weekends are typically reserved for weddings & family time with my family. Second, weekends in the photography universe tend to be very crowded in popular locations such as this park. Crowded can mean with just regular pedestrians or with other photographers and their clients. In my experience everyone is very respectful of each other and their clients but it can limit where you shoot and you maybe have to have several back up plans in mind.
Thankfully on this weekend there were only a few other photographers out along with us and they were utilizing areas that I wouldn’t typically use based on my style and aesthetic. The reason we were shooting on the weekend in this case is because this sweet couple is long distance. Gene works and lives several hours away but comes to visit Alix most weekends. I will do most anything for my couples, that is within the law, I don’t know why I feel the need to add that 🙂 So in this case shooting on the weekend was a must and you know what? It all worked out!! Enjoy!
This is my son and his beautiful fiancé Alix ❤️ Thank you for taking these awesome pictures! I look forward to meeting you ❤️ We do appreciate your flexibility. I know there have been challenges.
